Personal property and real estate taxes are imposed on nearly all business owners. Paying close attention to your business' property tax bill may represent an opportunity to realize significant real estate and personal property tax savings. If your property's assessed value is too high, you're paying more in property taxes than you should be—and you may want to consider challenging your assessment. But, making a successful appeal to your local assessor is both an art and a science. What are some of the clues that your business property may be overvalued? And when should you proceed with an appeal? At this workshop, Schenck’s property tax manager, Greg Stein, will explain how municipalities value most properties, what types of properties are commonly overvalued, and the steps to take if you think your assessment is too high.
